My Dance Philosophizing

From an analytical standpoint, dance has so many positive stacks. I think of this like a video game where you can get really OP builds by stacking the right skills on top of each other. Social, physical, community, art, culture, history — dance stacks a lot of things.

Mental model: footwork-based vs body-based lead/follow spectrum

I’m trying to capture a new “style” into my body. We say in swing that it doesn’t matter what you do with your feet — I always took that as philosophical, not literal. But dancing in Vilnius, I’m seeing something completely different: lead and follow based on momentum and position, not feet. The feet are so mixed up you have to change your relationship to bracing, connection, everything. Really excited to see where this goes.
